Detailed Structural Analysis of Cylindrical Steel Tank Subjected to Various Seismic Peak Ground Values Using FSI Approach

The seismic analysis of ground-supported cylindrical steel tanks subjected to lateral harmonic displacement loadings has been carried out. This paper numerically evaluates the structural response various tank geometries due resonant sloshing. numerical investigation is performed using a two-way fluid interaction approach that couples computational dynamics with finite element transient analysis. results have validated Seismic Design Code (Eurocode 8, part 4). Regarding aspect ratio (H/D), five covering slender, medium, and broad structures are analyzed under ten base excitations. All excited at their first convective frequency, whose shape magnitude evaluated modal curves developed for each model, which reveal complex peculiar response. It observed from tanks’ they undergo three transitional stress zones named safe, yielding, failure zones. critical duration also model. will help avoid future damage by designing liquid-containing based on loads.
